Phoenix is the Place for Great Coats

So yeah. It has been quite some time since I made the initial post for this blog. Contrary to my non-existent posts, I have been out and about in the wild looking for that holy grail item....whatever it may be. However, for me it is more than just finding the item. Hitting up junk ships and thrift shops is a way of getting out of my head for a bit (did I mention that I am both a therapist and a mom?). Some folks choose a spa, I like to rummage around old clothes. Hmmmm. Yeah, that one does sound a bit odd now that I am typing it out but to each their own.

I had a conversation the other day with one of my thrifting buddies about Phoenix. We are both Angeleno's by way of Phoenix by was of Chicago. We met back in the early 2000's in the Valley of the Sun and constantly wax nostalgic about "how much better thrifts were in the 90's".  One other thrifting related thing we noted was the abundance of interesting warm weather jackets once could find in Phoenix. I guess folks don't really need them unless they head up north often. Many of them end up in a Goodwill or Salvation Army rather than taking up needed closet space in folks homes. So the next time you thrift there, don't forget to look at those bulky, warm weather items. You may find a diamond in the rough.
Gotta love the trim on this rad boho jacket. Found at a Phoenix Goodwill

Adventures in Thrift Store Shopping

Well, that was going to be the name of this blog but alas....to no surprise it was already taken. After attempting names from 'poppin tags' to 'thrift scores' and every other cliche thrifting reference in between we here have settled on The Happy Thrifter in the interim. Also no surprise that this blog will be showcasing some happy, fun and kooky finds at Los Angeles area thrifts and beyond.......
